Source for Various Items

Sorry if this has been posted before. There are lots of useful items available for bid on this site every day. From sleeping bags to a Deuce & a Half and everything in between.

I've been perusing some of the 3/4 to 1 1/2 ton trailers myself.

I hope you have a big truck to pull that trailer if you get it I have a one and a half ton and it weighs 5000 pounds empty.

I have a M109A3 to pull it and the trailer sucks the life right out of the truck when I am pulling it over about 40mph.

But on the positive side it is going to be the buest built indestructible trailer you have ever owned.

Yikes! That's a lot heavier than I expected. Wonder what the 3/4 ton rated model weighs? Tow vehicle would be a 3/4 ton 4wd.

The 3/4 ton trailers weigh about 1500 pounds in plain-jane trim (no boxes racks etc.).

When i picked up my 1.5 ton I was suprised at the weight as well then I looked and the lash points made out of 1" plate and the solid steel nose wheel and everything is super heavy duty.

Don't forget to grease them, they have lots of zircs dang near everywhere there is a joint.

MM,
Come on dude. NONE of the deuces run well pulling the trailer designed for them. We both know that when they were designed, 45 mph was considered normal convoy speed.

NOWADAYS?

The new MV's zip right along at 70 - 80 mph, what ever the conditions will allow. Moving that fast makes it more difficult for IED's to take you out. Or not.

I purchased three vehicles and a bunch of other mil surp stuff from GL. I just recently picked up a set of 30+ camo netting support systems. I'm selling them to my buddies in my MV club for $20 per set. That's $50 -$60 cheaper than most people sell them for.

Plus I can tell you where to get new mil surp radar reflective camo netting (three color camo) that has two pieces and comes in it's own carry case for $125. But you gotta pick it up or pay shipping. It's down in the Springs.

Very true but this is also why I am puting a better turbo and gearing in mine so I can do about 60. I will still take a multifueler any day.

The new stuff will make you walk in a heatbeat if there is a EMP or a diesel shortage.

Yes the new ones are faster more comfortable and over all nicer This is done at the cost of being way more complicated, and that to me is a bad thing in a vehicle.

Skip the upgrade of the turbo. AND FORGET about gearing. You will find out quickly that it's mega expensive.

Short of yanking the multifuel/tranny combo and replacing it with a cat or a cummins with the associated transmission attached.

THEN all you need to do is put in new drive shafts. Like I said, NOT CHEAP.

HOWEVER, I do have a solution for you.

Go to six lug bud wheels. They are 22.5" diameter, which is commercial sized tires. With the increase in tire size, the normal gearing allowed me to see speeds between 65/70 mph verified via GPS.

And because I was now running radials, those thoughts of needing power steering also disappeared, because the tires rolled WAY easier. It also meant I got about 1 to 2 mpg better. AND the six lug bud wheels are REGULAR wheels (not snap rings) and can be fixed/changed at ANY big rig shop/truck stop...

I put Michelin XDY's on mine. I also 'super singled' it out. Took about a days worth of work in my driveway.
